Letter U Art Activities
Rainy days usually come with sniffles, cough, colds and flu. And so it’s easy to be over protective of our kids.
Normally, we want them to stay indoors- safe and sound. But they could be missing on some important lessons that they could only learn from the rain.
With my nephew, we try to keep a balance when it comes to exposing him to different activities. We let him play in the mud, get rowdy with the dog and even play under the rain. All these activities are done with supervision, of course.
But the thing is, we don’t limit his exposure completely. Like when playing under the rain. We give him an umbrella so he can still be outside. And we only let him play for 10 to 15 minutes. After that, he goes back inside and play with something else.
Trust your instinct. I’m sure you’ll know when it’s safe and when it’s not. Just don’t let your fear take out all the fun of experiencing things. And while you’re at it, you can turn it into a teachable moment, (e.g. Talk about the beginning sound for umbrella, catch raindrops and measure how much you caught.)
